Pakistani FM terms talks with India productive

Islamabad, July 30, IRNA -- Pakistani Foreign Minister, Hina Rabbani Khar, said that dialogue process with India remained productive and result oriented.

Talking to reporters in Lahore on arrival from New Delhi after her talks with Indian Foreign Minister, she said both the countries have now realised that there is no alternative to dialogue process and it should be 'uninterrupted and uninterruptable'.

Hina Rabbani Khar said it is the responsibility of the two countries to make joint efforts to ensure peace and security in the region.

She said she had conveyed friendly and good neighbourly attitude of Pakistan towards India.

The Minister said there is need to build greater trust and show commitment to resolve all issues through discussion and dialogue process.

Hina said, 'There is need to take the responsibility to carry forward the dialogue process' adding that 'I am confident that we can take forward this peace process.'

The Minister said it is now important that the dialogue process should be sustained adding that 'there are enormous opportunities for win-win for the two countries following the success of dialogue process.'

Hina said there has been a visible change in the leadership of two countries that 'mind set' has been changed.

'We can give a new atmosphere to the new generation of the two countries as our relationship today is different from the past,' she added.

The Indian Foreign Minister Krishna said he was satisfied with the resumption of the peace process that was stalled in the aftermath of the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.

Krishna said, 'The outcome (of talks) has been as per our expectations. We reaffirmed our commitment to resolve all our issues.'

Hina said that an uninterrupted, constructive and positive dialogue process was integral to resolve all outstanding issues and normalize relations between Pakistan and India.

She said that Pakistan and India are well aware of the challenges faced by both of them and they also understand the need to ease tension between the both countries.

Hina said that an uninterrupted and result-oriented dialogue could lead both the countries and the whole region towards peace and prosperity.

She said that during her visit, she had meeting with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Foreign Minister SM Krishna, Opposition leaders and found all of them looking forward for better ties with Pakistan which was very encouraging sign.

Hina said that Pakistan aims at improving relations with India through medium term, uninterrupted and constructive talks which were vital for peace in the region.

She said that during the visit both the countries also agreed to initiate Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) through trade and travel agreements.

She added that the issues of Water, Indus Water Treaty and visa also discussed and both sides clarified their stance./end
