Ayatollah: Iran-Egypt to make up for past with cultural exchanges

Qom, July 30, IRNA – A well-known religious leader in Iran, Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi, by referring to new situation in Egypt, said that Iran and Egypt should make up for the past through cultural exchanges and visits of intellectuals and Ulama.

In a meeting with a group of Egyptian intellectuals here on Friday, the ayatollah said that there is a good opportunity now to rectify the past.

He assured Egyptian Ulama that there are many in the world who are ready to listen to message of Islam adding that if these two countries work together to get the message to the world, it is believed that the future religion of the world would be Islam.

He added that the future horizon is very clear with the Islamic world awareness and enemies of Islam will certainly be defeated.

The ayatollah said, 'In spite of all activities against our government, we are not worried about future and we are standing firmly.'

He asked his visitors to convey his heartfelt greetings to his brothers and sisters in Egypt and tell them that Iranians' hearts are always with them./end
