Diplomat: Sanctions are futile against will of Iranian youth

New York, July 30, IRNA – Iran's ambassador and deputy representative in the United Nations said that Iran's progress shows that sanctions are futile in face of the will of Iranian youth.
In a high level meeting of the UN General Assembly on Youth, Isaq Al-Habib expounded on Iran's viewpoints on youth role in the world.
He said that Iran's achievements proved that whenever youth have opportunity, they brought about noticeable progress in different arena.
Referring to the fact that the youth are 60 percent of Iran's population and Iran is one of the youngest countries in the world, Al-Habib said one of the priorities in Iran's policy is to provide the youth with their legitimate demands.
He added that in 1992, Iran established Youth High Council and in recent months, Iran has established Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Considering more attention of international and regional bodies to the issue of youth, the first meeting of Youth Affairs Ministers of ECO members states was held in Tehran on November 29-30 of 2010.
Acting minister of Ministry of Youth and Sports Mohammad Abbasi was to attend the meeting and deliver a speech, but since US government denied him a visa, he cancelled his trip./end
