Powers seeking Muslim rift, Iran's ayatollah tells Egyptian team
TEHRAN, July 30 (MNA) – Grand Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi has said that arrogant governments are trying to divide the Islamic Ummah.
Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi made the remarks during a meeting with an Egyptian delegation in Tehran on Wednesday.
He said arrogant governments don’t favor Egypt’s alignment with Iran, so they will make every effort to scuttle the establishment of a close relationship between Tehran and Cairo.
“But, your awakening will prevent them from achieving their goals,” he stated.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he advised the Egyptian people not to be afraid of talking about the establishment of an Islamic government in their country.
“Tell our brothers in Egypt not to be afraid of talking about an Islamic government,” the ayatollah noted.
He added, “There is no violence in an Islamic government, and there is no return to the Middle Ages… but such a government will help you to use your religious force to achieve your complete independence and surmount your problems.”
