Iran Increases Trade Exchanges with EU
TEHRAN (FNA)- The trade exchanges between Iran and the European Union have witnessed a 2% increase in May 2011, a report by Eurostat said.
According to Eurostat estimates, the trade ties between Tehran and the 27-member bloc increased by 2% in May compared with a month earlier.
The two sides had $2.1bln of trade exchanges in April and the figure reached $2.15 in May, the report added.
Meantime, the value of Iran's imports form the EU also witnessed a 4% growth in May in comparison with April.
EU's imports from Iran underwent a 1% growth in the said period, according to the report.
Earlier in July the Eurostat said that the value of the European Union's imports from Iran has reached 4.02bln euro during the first four months of 2011.
The Eurostat said in its latest estimate that the figure shows a 1.8% growth compared with the same period last year.
Also in July, Head of Iran's Customs Office Abbas Memarnejad said that the value of Iran's trade exchanges with the other world countries amounted to $23.7bln in the first three months of the current Iranian year (started on March 21), showing a 14.5% growth compared with the same period last year.
Iranian officials have underscored that Iran has the capability to further decrease the role of oil in its budget revenues, and announced Tehran's plans to boost non-oil exports to $45bln this year.
According to official reports, Iran's non-oil products are exported to 160 countries of the world. China, Iraq, United Arab Emirates, India, Afghanistan, Turkey, Pakistan, Taiwan, the Republic of Korea and Belgium are the main destinations and markets of the Iranian products.
