Iran strongly criticizes IAEA director-general for anti-Iran remarks

Tehran, Aug.1, IRNA -- Iran on Sunday strongly criticized Director-General of International Atomic Energy Agency Yukiya Amano for his anti-Iran statement at Conference on Disarmament in Matsumoto city of Japan.

Chairman of Majlis Commission on National Security and Foreign Policy Alaeddin Boroujerdi criticized Amano for following the US lead.

Amano has said that Iran was not cooperating with Iran on its undeclared activities.

Boroujerdi said that IAEA repetitive reports about Iranian nuclear program indicated Iranian full cooperation with the UN nuclear agency.

He regretted that Amano has exceeded the boundaries of his authority about Iranian nuclear program and is following the US provocation about Iran.

Boroujerdi said that the IAEA director general has attempted to put pressure on Iran in line with political goals of the United States and that Iran will not heed such statements.

Iran signed a Modality Plan in 2007 to resolve the outstanding issues about Iranian nuclear program and fully responded to the questions of the IAEA within a timeframe envisaged by the Modality Plan.

After the Agency received Iran's responses to the outstanding issues, the former director-general of IAEA Mohamed ElBaradei verified civilian nature of Iran's nuclear program.

Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi told the IAEA Board of Governors early July that Iran expects the UN nuclear agency to get back Iran's file from the UN Security Council after the two parties accomplished the Modality Plan./end
