Envoy stresses West’s failure in sabotaging Iran-Afghan ties

Tehran, Aug 1, IRNA – Iran’s Ambassador to Afghanistan Fada Hossein Maleki said West’s attempts to tarnish Tehran-Kabul ties have failed thanks to the firm will of both countries to expand relations.

In an exclusive interview with IRNA, he noted that the current volume of Iran’s exports to Afghanistan stood at over dlrs 1,300 million.

He stressed that the US and a number of European countries dislike expansion of ties between Tehran and Kabul and so embark on all kinds of sabotaging acts.

Referring to the proper grounds for export of Iranian goods to Afghanistan, the ambassador noted that foodstuff and commodities used in the family consumption basket accounted for a major portion of Iran’s exports to Afghanistan.

According to the official, Iranian companies are presently active in Afghanistan in such areas as industries, mines, infrastructure as well as water and dam projects.

Maleki also pointed to Iran’s schemes to promote its cultural activities in Afghanistan and said the presence of Iranian universities in the country, opening of Iranian schools there and the presence of Afghan students in Iranian universities served the same purpose./end
