Governance in Karnataka dead, fresh polls needed: Moily
New Delhi, Aug 1 (PTI) Contending that governance in
south Indian state Karnataka was "dead and gone", senior
Congress leader M Veerappa Moily Monday favoured fresh
assembly polls in the state following the resignation of Chief
Minister B S Yeddyurappa in the wake of Lokayukta report on
illegal mining.
"The right course of action is, if there is any grace
left with BJP, they will have to step down and ask for a fresh
elections," Indian Minister Moily, who is a former Chief
Minister of Karnataka, told reporters outside Indian
Parliament House.
"Governance is already a casualty under B S
Yeddyurappa and BJP. Whether Yeddyurappa continues or somebody
else continues, governance is already dead and gone," he said.
Yeddyurappa had resigned Sunday as Chief Minister
after the report by state Kokayukta Justice N Santosh Hegde
named him in the illegal mining scam.
