Iranian Persian Gulf Island Exports over 20,000 tons of Zinc

TEHRAN (FNA)- Managing-Director of Qeshm Zinc Smelting Complex Mehdi Kalateh announced that Iran's Qeshm Island in the Persian Gulf exported over 20,000 tons of zinc ingots in the last Iranian year (ended March 20).
Kalateh said that all the products of the complex with a purity level of 99.99% are exported to the European Union countries, India, Turkey and Persian Gulf littoral states.

He explained that the complex has generated about 400 and 2,000 direct and indirect jobs respectively on Qeshm Island. The industrialist predicted that with the implementation of development programs, the number of jobs would rise on this Persian Gulf Island. The project to expand the complex is underway.

He said that once the third phase of the complex becomes operational in the year to March 2015 and new technologies are employed the production capacity of the complex will rise by 10,000 tons annually. In addition, 200 new jobs will be created with an investment of IRR 300 billion.
