BSN TO COLLECT RP3.8 BILLION IN NON-TAX REVENUES

Jakarta, Sept 17 (ANTARA) - The National Standardization Agency (BSN) has calculated that it would collect Rp3.8 billion non-tax revenues this year, a BSN official said here on Wednesday.

Sunarya, BSN's deputy for application of standardization and accreditation affairs, said that his agency had been collecting non-tax state revenues from 20 product certification institutions.

The 20 product certification institutions are allowed to issue the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) certification mark after they had secured accreditation from BSN, he said.

"So, the non-tax revenues earned by BSN did not come from assessment, consultation or technical meeting costs," he said.

The BSN data showed that the non-tax state revenues it had collected in 2005 stood at Rp2.2 billion which increased to Rp2.8 billion in 2006 and Rp3.1 trillion in 2007.

This year, it is expected that BSN would collect a total of Rp3.8 billion in non-tax revenues.

He said that based on Government Regulation No.62 / 2008 on Non-Tax State Income, the government had set itself to collect non-tax income of Rp7.9 billion in 2009.

Previously, calculation of non-tax revenues referred to Government Regulation No. 54 / 2001.

"The old reference seems to be no longer relevant," he said.

In a hearing with the House of Representatives (DPR)'s
Commission VI which deals with investment affairs on Tuesday, legislators questioned the absence of a BSN report on non-tax revenues.
