KPPU COMMISSIONER IQBAL NAMED BRIBERY SUSPECT BY ANTI-GRAFT BODY
Jakarta, Sept 17 (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named M Iqbal, a commissioner of the Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU), a suspect in a bribery case along with BS, an executive of Lippo Group.
The KPK arrested the two men at Aryaduta hotel when they were found to be allegedly involved in bribe case worth Rp500 million on Tuesday night (Sept 16.)
"The two were named suspects after they were questioned on Wednesday," KPK Deputy Chairman Chandra said here on Wednesday.
He said the two suspects would be detained in police cells. BS will be detained in a cell of the West Jakarta police precinct and Iqbal in a cell of the Central Jakarta police precinct.
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested M Iqbal, a commissioner of the KPPU, on Tuesday (Sept 16) for allegedly receiving a bribe of Rp500 million from an executive of Lippo Group, BS. He was arrested in a lift of Aryaduta hotel in Central Jakarta.
The money is believed to a bribe paid for influencing a business competition dispute the KPPU is handling.
BS who handed over the money was also taken to the KPK office together with M Iqbal's driver, Br, BS assistant BD, and an office boy of Aryaduta hotel, G.
