RI TO HOLD INDONESIAN EXPO IN MOSCOW

Jakarta, Sept 17 (ANTARA) - The government will hold an Indonesian Expo in Moscow, Russia, on September 20 to 26 which will be opened for businesspeople as well as the general public.
Officials from the Capital Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) and the Ministry of Tourism and Culture will attend the opening of the event, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.
The team of BKPM officials have seriously prepared themselves for a business luncheon and a gala dinner to be held specially for chief executive officers of Russian companies.
During the gala dinner Indonesian and Russian male and female models will show Indonesian batik haute couture.
"To catch a big fish we must also use big baits," organizing committee chief Surprianda Ruru said.
A delegation from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism led by the director general of marketing, Sapta Nirwandar, plans to open a special outlet to market domestic tourist destinations.
The delegation will also hold a special meeting with Russian tourism operators as the number of Russian tourists to Indonesia this year is expected to increase by 100 percent.
The team will also participate in the International Tourism Fair 2008, Otdykh Leisure, to be held on October 1-3, in Moscow.
To promote the Indonesian Expo the committee has distributed leaflets and put up posters and banners and cooperated with local media such as the Tribunal Weekly.
Until early this week all outlets provided for businessmen have been fully taken.
Based on data, 23 trading companies, five tourism companies and 11 investors were ready to attend the expo.
Among the companies from Indonesia taking part in the expo are Kapal Api coffee producer, Indofood, Barong, cigarette company Djarum, Minahasa Laguna Resort, pharmaceutical companies Kimia Farma and Bio Farma.
An Indonesian Charity Bazaar will also be held on September 20 offering various door prizes such as Moscow-Bali return tickets.
Seeing all the preparations that have been made it is hoped the expo would be successful.
