One or two groups may spoil I-Day celebrations: Chidambaram
New Delhi, Aug 12 (PTI) Home Minister of India P
Chidambaram today said the high alert sounded across the
country on the eve of the Independence Day was general in
nature as "one or two" groups may try to spoil the
celebrations.
"We issued an alert as Independence Day is when some of
the groups plan a few things. August 14 is observed by some
North-East groups. August 15 alert is as the nation is in a
celebratory mood, one or two groups may want to spoil the
celebrations," Chidambaram told reporters.
However, he said the alerts were general in nature and
there were no specific threat inputs.
The alert were issued in the "run-up to Independence
Day" and were on the lines issued in the previous years, he
said.
