England, with their magnificent an innings and 242-run
win, became the number one Test Team in the World.
England have recorded their fifth biggest Test win by
an innings margin - their biggest being by an innings and 579
runs against Australia at The Oval in 1938.
England have won 26, lost five and drawn 20 out of 51
played against India in England.
India's defeat is their second biggest against England
in Tests, next only to the loss by an innings and 285 runs at
Lord's in 1974.
India's loss is their third largest in Tests - the
biggest being by an innings and 336 runs against West Indies
at Kolkata in 1958-59.
For the first time, India have lost three consecutive
Tests under Mahendra Singh Dhoni's leadership. He has lost his
first Test series as an Indian skipper.
After eleven successive series without a defeat, India
lost their first Test series.
Despite three huge losses, Dhoni still has 50% success
rate - 15 victories, six defeats and nine drawn games out of
30 played as captain.
The last occasion when an Indian team had lost all
three Tests in England, happened in 1974.
Andrew Strauss, thanks to three wins in succession in
