Delhi Police seeks services of 2 magistrates
New Delhi, Aug 15 (PTI) Delhi Police Monday sought the
services of two magistrates from Delhi government ahead of the
protest by social activist Anna Hazare and his team who have
announced they would go ahead with their fast against
corruption despite denial of permission for the agitation.
Sources said Delhi Police have requested Principal
Secretary (Home) of the city government to provide them with
two magistrates whose services might be required to handle the
law and order situation during the proposed protest.
Meanwhile, top officials reviewed the situation as a
showdown between Hazare team and Delhi Police appeared
imminent as the protesters expressed their intention to go
ahead with the indefinite hunger strike.
Union Home Secretary R K Singh held a meeting with Delhi
Police Commissioner B K Gupta and other senior officials at
the Police Headquarters here to take stock of the measures
taken by the force to tackle any untoward situation.
The meeting came after Hazare and his team announced that
they will go ahead with their proposed protest at Jai Prakash
Narain Park even after being denied permission and will court
arrest if they were prevented from doing do so.
