Tauqeer Fatima Bhutto takes notice of honour killing incident
Karachi, August 16, 2011 (PPI): Sindh Minister for Women Development Tauqeer Fatima Bhutto has taken notice of the alleged honour killing of Hurmat Khatoon in Bakshapur District in Kandhkot and has instructed DPO Muhammed Umar Farooq to submit a detailed report in this regard, said a handout issued here on Tuesday.
Fatima Bhutto has also directed the DPO to take strict action against the culprits. She said the current democratic government is protecting the rights of women whereas cases pending for several years have started yielding results.
She said it makes an excellent impact on society when court’s orders are implemented in the society and it also helps promoting the rule of law. She said people should be made more aware regarding their rights.
The minister said a booklet on women’s rights has been published which has been distributed among all government and semi-governmental departments. She also said the booklet would also be distributed in educational institutions soon.
