Islamabad, August 16, 2011 (PPI): United Nations humanitarian agencies are closely watching situation of rains affected areas in Punjab and Sindh provinces and wait for green signal from the government to start relief operation for affected people.

World Food Program WFP spokesman Amjad Jamal Tuesday said around 750,000 people have been affected in Punjab & Sindh, 25 died in Sindh and about 50,000 others displaced in rain-affected areas, according to media reports.

He said UN humanitarian agencies can only start relief operation in Pakistan after written request of the government.
