Mob set ablaze Rescue 15, seven vehicles
Multan, August 17, 2011 (PPI): A violent mob of more than 2000 citizens stormed a police station in Fatehpur, district Layyah when they listened that Police had tortured an accused to death during interrogation on Wednesday and set five motor cycles, a car and a Hilux carrier and Rescue-15 station on fire.
They also set the record of police station on fire. Police officials saved their lives by confining them in a room.
DPO Layyah Muhammad Saleem said,"Situation is under control now and I have suspended the services of seven police officials and registered a case against them on the charge of murder of a suspect Allah Ditta.
He said that Police resorted to teargas and baton charge to disperse the violent mob which tried to set the police station on fire. DPO appealed to the citizens to remain calm and quiet.
