Karachi violence: Death toll jumps to 39 as 22 more bullet-riddled bodies recovered


Karachi, August 18, 2011 (PPI): The death toll in Karachi violence jumped to 39 in two days as 22 more people were killed in firing and torture incidents from midnight of Wednesday and Thursday.

On Wednesday former MNA and 16 others were gunned down in different incidents of violence in the city.

Most of the bodies found since midnight were legs and hands tied with rope and stuffed in gunny bags, rescue sources said.

They said four bullet riddle bodies were found from Baldia town Sector 19-D. Three of them were identified as Sudheer, 24, son of Deen Muhammad, Azimullah, 24, son of Hamidullah and Liaqat Zafar Faroque while identity of a deceased is yet to be ascertained. Liaquat Zafar was the Station Officer of Miran Naka Fire Station and was kidnapped along with Fireman Irfan who was found injured.

Four slaughtered and bullet riddle bodies of men in their mid-thirties were found in Garden area. Two of them were found from Bagh-e-Hilal and two near Karachi Zoo.

Separately four bullet-riddled bodies of young men were recovered from Pankha Hotel, Shershah. One of them was identified as Jawed in his early thirties while others remained unidentified.

Another two bullet riddled unidentified bodies of men seemingly in their early twenties were found from Shinwaari Hotel, Maripur area.

Moreover, two bullet riddle bodies of men in their early forties were recovered from Saeda Goth, Baldia.

Tortured body of man identified as Nabi Bukhsh in his fifties was found near Hamdard University, Manghopir area.

Another three bullet-riddled bodies of men stuffed in gunny bags were found from Kakri Ground, Lea Market area. The three were seemingly near in their thirties.

Two slaughtered bodies were found from Aghra Taj Colony. The three persons looked in their mid- thirties however the bodies remained unidentified till filing of the story.

All bodies were taken to Civil Hospital Karachi fort medico-legal formalities.
