Ahmadinejad: Iran, Turkey, have historic responsibility to assist regional nations

Tehran, Aug 23, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said in a phone talk with Turkey’s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan Iran and Turkey have a historic responsibility to assist the regional nations in their pursuit of freedom.

According to the information website of the Presidential Office, Ahmadinejad added, “The two countries must intensely cooperate, and design operational plans for assisting the regional nations in their pursuit of freedom, democracy, and justice.”

The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran emphasized that the westerners’ interference would merely further complicate the regional problems and appreciated the Turkish Prime Minister’s stands against the interference of NATO and the big world powers in regional developments.

He added, “The interference of the United States and European countries in the region is inacceptable, because the regional problems do not have Western solutions as it is possible to solve the entire regional problems resorting to Islamic methods in a way that the nations would achieve their rights and no one would be harmed in the course.”

The president said that democracy, freedom and justice are the rights of the nations, and every nation must be benefitted from all of them, but the interference of the oppressor powers resorting to such pretexts only turn the situation into worse, and an obvious example of that is seen in Libya today.

He added, “If in Libya instead of the military force, a trusted mediating group for both the government and the rebels would have been dispatched, the situation there would have been a lot better there today, and Iran and Turkey, along with the other nations, can initiate such a mediations in other regional countries where the nations have demands, and solve the problems justly and rapidly.”

Ahmadinejad reiterated, “The dossiers of the westerners are full of massacres and criminal acts and experience shows that they are not after solving problems in Yemen, in Bahrain, in Syria and in Libya, but are merely after further exertion of their hegemony in the region and saving the Zionist regime.”

The president pointed out that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s stands on the entire nations is supporting the justice based on the people’s votes, adding, “The name of Iran has always been by the side of righteousness and justice, and the Iranian nation moves on that path resolutely.”

He said that freedom and democracy are obtained under the umbrella of brotherhood and understanding and the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to move along with the nations in that direction.”

The president also appreciated Turkey’s contributions to Somalia, emphasized the need for assisting the famine-stricken Somalians urgently, and said, “The Islamic Republic of Iran seriously pursues the matter of assisting the suffering people of Somalia and supports all moves in this regard.”

Turkey’s Prime Minister Erdogan, too, in the phone talk referred to the importance of the two countries’ bilateral ties, reiterating,
“The Islamic Republic of Iran’s stands on regional issues are of special importance and Tehran and Ankara can together take effective steps in solving regional problems through bilateral cooperation.”

He also presented a report on Turkey’s contributions to the famine-stricken people of Somalia, arguing, “The situation is quite painful there and it is impossible to describe the Somalians’ conditions in words. They are in need of very vast scale contributions and support.”/end
