Foreign ministry urges Libyans to bar colonists from intervention

Tehran, Aug 23, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Ministry urged the Libyans to bar interventions by those who acted as colonists in the past but were now seeking to influence the nation in determining its destiny.

In a statement on Tuesday, it congratulated the Muslim nation of Libya on its victory and said there would be no doubt that the anti-colonist nation with firm resolution and zeal to safeguard its national sovereignty would prevent interventions.

It further stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran since the very beginning of the popular uprising in Libya had supported the move.

It also noted that Iran was against any kind of foreign intervention and killing of defenseless people.

The statement went on to urge the Libyans to be vigilant enough to safeguard their uprising and guide it into a channel which would lead to independence, national sovereignty, dignity, construction and prosperity of the country./end
