Ssangyong Engineering wins US$47.3 mln order from Vietnam

SEOUL, Aug. 24 (Yonhap) -- South Korean builder Ssangyong Engineering & Construction Co. said Wednesday that it has clinched a US$47.3 million deal to build a section of a transnational road along the west coast of Vietnam.
Under the deal with Vietnam's Ministry of Transport, Ssangyong Engineering will be responsible for the 31-kilometer section from Thu Bay to Kenh in southern Vietnam out of the 924-km road.
The Southern Coastal Corridor Project, financed by Seoul's Economic Development Cooperation Fund, links the roads of Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam in an effort to improve the social infrastructure of the Southeastern countries.
It will take 29 months to complete the construction, the builder said.
Ssangyong Engineering said the deal is the first project that the company has won from Vietnam since it completed a hydroelectric dam in 2000.
