KESC resumes operation in Godhra after the arrest of Lineman’s killers; demands exemplary punishment for culprits

Karachi, August 19, 2011 (PPI): Demanding exemplary punishment for the killers, Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) has resumed operations in Godhra after police arrested two persons accused of murdering the utility’s Lineman Qamar Alam, who was killed in North Karachi on August 14, said a press release issued Friday.

KESC has expressed commitment to fight the deceased person’s case till justice is executed, the press release also said.

In addition to all statutory dues, KESC has decided to grant a lump sum amount of Rs. 3,00,000 to the family of the late lineman and to bear school expenses of his children from KESC’s Employees Support Fund.

Lineman Alam was rectifying a local fault with co-workers in Makkah Colony in North Karachi area when Haji Ahmed ordered his son Faizan to kill all KESC team members. Faizan opened fire on them. Lineman Nazar Mohammed and others managed to keep themselves off the firing line while Alam who was on the ladder at that time received the bullet in his chest and expired on the spot.

After this incident, KESC immediately stopped operations and repair work in the area till the arrest of culprits. KESC lodged a FIR with New Karachi Police Station against two killers, belonging to a religio-political party.

KESC has expressed hope that law would take its due course and justice would be executed beyond any hesitation and doubt. KESC also hoped that court of law would award exemplary punishment to the killers.
