Boxing -- Russia's Povetkin becomes world super heavyweight champion

BERLIN, August 28 (Itar-Tass) -- Alexander Povetkin of Russia has won
the title of world champion among super heavyweight boxers, according to
the World Boxing Association.
After 12 rounds of the fight in Erfurt with Uzbek boxer Ruslan
Chagayev, Povetkin was declared the winner unanimously by all the referees.
The title was vacant after it was won by Ukrainian Vladimir Klichko.
According to the organisation's regulations, a champion who has titles
according to other versions (Klichko has three), is declared a super
champion, and the "regular" title is contended for by boxers who are the
first and the second on the rating list. Chagayev was the first, and
Povetkin was the second on the list.
Povetkin is the fourth Russian who becomes the super heavyweight
champion. Before him, the title was won by Sultan Ibragimov, Nikolai
Valuyev and Oleg Maskayev.
