Manmohan congratulates Nepal PM Bhattarai
New Delhi, Aug 28 (PTI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh
Sunday congratulated Baburam Bhattarai on his election as the
new Prime Minister of Nepal.
Singh also conveyed his best wishes to the Maoist
vice-chairman on his election to the top post in Nepal,
official sources said.
Considered a moderate face in the Maoist party,
57-year-old India-educated Bhattarai, who has a doctorate
from New Delhi's Jawaharlal Nehru University, polled 340
votes in the Constituent Assembly. His Nepali Congress rival
R C Poudyal secured 235 votes.
