Kiran Bedi says no apology for remarks against politicians

UPDATED
New Delhi, Aug 29 (PTI) Facing a privilege notice in
Parliament for her caustic remarks against politicians, Team
Anna member and former Indian Police Service(IPS) officer
Kiran Bedi Monday night said she is not going to apologise and
was prepared for any punishment.
"Sorry no apology for being demonstratively a voice of
public anguish. Prepared for any punishment," she tweeted on
the microblogging site Twitter.
In contrast to Bedi's stand, Actor Om Puri apologised
for using derogatory remarks to deride the political class.
The privilege motion notices against both Bedi and Puri,
who made the remarks at the Anna Hazare fast venue at Ramlila
maidan last week in a no holds barred attack against
politicians, are under the consideration of Presiding officers
of Rajya Sabha(Upper House of Parliament) and Lok Sabha(Lower
House of Parliament).
Bedi earlier refused to comment on the breach of
privilege motion moved against her saying she is yet to
receive any notice.
"I will respond to it when I receive it. I have neither
received nor been informed of it. I cannot go by news
reports," Bedi told PTI.
Members in the two Houses of Parliament have given
privilege notices against Bedi and Puri for using "derogatory
and defamatory" language against politicians.
Bedi had accused politicians of wearing "several masks"
at the same time, drawing the ire of MPs from both Houses.
Sunday, Bedi had defended her controversial comments
and said she does not regret the outburst and the theatrics
that put the Members of Parliament(MPs) in bad light.
She also said her action reflected an outpouring of
anger and concern and that she was only reacting to the kind
of situation on that day when Hazare was on the 11th day of
his fast.
Bedi had pulled a scarf from the neck of a young
activist on stage, wrapped her head with it and proceeded to
mock MPs.
