Senior MP Dismisses US Allegations about Iran's Arms Shipment to Iraq

TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior Iranian legislator dismissed the US claims about Tehran's arms shipment to Iraq as a worn-out plot staged by the Americans to save their face and interests in the Middle-Eastern country.
"Such false claims and resorting to such tools by the US officials are a worn-out trick which would not attract awakened nations," Mohammad Javad Abtahi told FNA on Wednesday.

"Americans' claims about Iran's arms shipment to Iraq are not surprising as they are seeking to materialize their interests in Iraq (through such means)," he added.

Abtahi reiterated that the United States, due to its high budget deficit, tries to spark insecurity in the region to justify establishment of its permanent military bases in the occupied countries and earn money under the pretext of the heavy costs of its military buildup in the region.

In relevant remarks in August, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast had condemned the recent terrorist attacks in Iraq which took the lives of the innocent people, and took the foreign forces deployed in the country responsible for the spread of insecurities in the war-torn country.

Mehman-Parast said the terror operations are aimed at delaying exit of foreign troops from Iraq.

He said that Iraqi security forces have proved to be strong enough to ensure law and order in the country and based on past experiences, whenever the Iraqi political groups come to terms, foreign agents resort to such desperate terrorist actions to target the country's security and stability.

"Since Iraqi security forces have achieved great successes in providing safety for the civilians and breaking up the terror centers, recent terrorist actions have targeted the country's stability," Mehman-Parast stated.

He maintained that presence of foreign troops will never bring peace and security to Iraq.
