POL: No friendship with India sans Kashmir solution

LAHORE, September 07, 2011 (PPI): Jamaat e Islami's deputy Secretary General, Dr Farid Ahmed Piracha, has said that friendship with India without resolving the Kashmir issue was tantamount to betraying the

martyrs of the September 1965 war and sprinkling salt on the wounds of the oppressed Kashmiris. He was addressing a Defense Day function at the JI Ulema Academy,

Multan road. He said that in September 1965, the nation stood behind its armed forces and the Pakistani leadership gave the slogan of Jehad which resulted in a clear victory for the country. However, in 1971, the nation and the armed forces were not united which resulted in the fall of Dhaka.

He said Pakistan and India had serious differences on Kashmir, river water and Sia Chen. Besides, India was sending terrorists and saboteurs in Baluchistan and Karachi to destabilize this country. With this background, any move for friendship India would mean

forgetting all these issues.
