Inviting foreign powers against armed forces comes under Article 6: PML-N

ISLAMABAD, September 07, 2011 (PPI): Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader Siddiqul Farooq said that inviting foreign intervention against the armed forces and security institutions comes under Article 6 of the constitution. Addressing a press conference here Tuesday, Farooq said, present situation has provided an opportunity to the MQM to get a verdict from the Supreme Court about allegations levelled against it since its establishment in March 1984.

He said if the MQM gets a clean chit from the Supreme Court, then it would be good for the party otherwise it must reform its attitude. He regretted that unfortunately people residing in Sindh were suffering from the prejudice of a handful of people and its reaction. PML-N Leader appealed the Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry to make the press conference of Dr Zulfiqar Mirza held on 28th August as part of the hearing of Law and Order suo motu case.

Former Sindh Home Minister is like an affidavit about the role of Federal and Provincial Governments and political parties as far as law and order situation in Karachi and integrity of the country is concerned, he added. He also said the Apex Court should also make the 1994 petition No.46/1994 filed by the MQM against Benazir Bhutto's Federal Government, the reply of the Federation and the stance taken by the Sindh Democrats Group in the Court part of the case and then give its verdict.

He said whatever the verdict was delivered by the Supreme Court, its implementation was the constitutional, legal and moral duty of the government. He warned that if the Government failed to implement the verdict, the PML9N) would not hesitate to go to the court of the people to save the state and Pakistani people. Asked as to why the PML-N was not playing its role and waiting for the Supreme Court verdict, Siddiqul Farooq said world over decisions of the Superior Courts are implemented. He said the Supreme Court is a non political and constitutional institution and the Constitution gives it powers to give judgments.

Responding to a question, he held President Asif Ali Zardari responsible for the killing of 7000 innocent Pakistanis in Karachi during the last three and a half years. He said the murderous policy of reconciliation and taking everybody along has been exposed. He said President Zardari used this killing policy to prolong his rule, increase the bank balance of his own, relatives and Jiyalas, emptying the pockets of the people, load shedding, corruption, price hike and throwing the poor masses out of job.

Siddiqul Farooq said the PPP laid the foundation of sectarian bias in Sindh in 1973. He said the top leadership of the PPP has an extremely negative record as far as Hamoodur Rehman Commission, Parliamentary Resolutions and implementation of Supreme Court verdicts are concerned.

He said Asif Ali Zardari was purchasing every day of his rule at the cost of blood of the people and sale of Pakistan's interests. Siddiqul Farooq said PML-N considers armed forces, ISI and other security institutions necessary for the country and support their constitutional role. He said the PML-N was however opposed to unconstitutional role of these institutions as the country suffered a great deal for their unconstitutional role.
