Democratic Founders’ Group boycotts SCCI polls

SIALKOT, September 12, 2011 (PPI): Keeping their lips zipped, the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Election Commission continued polling for the election of Corporate Class of SCCI amid boycott by rival Democratic Founders’ Group due to making alleged fake and bogus votes.

The polling held under the supervision of Chairman SCCI Election Commission Sheikh Naveed Iqbal here on Monday, where a great hustle and bustle was witnessed in and around the grand SCCI building.

On Sunday, while addressing a press conference at Sialkot Press Club, the Democratic Founders’ Group announced boycott of September 12-13 polls, saying that as many as 60 percent of the total votes of the SCCI were bogus. The SCCI management and ruling Ittehad Founders’ Group still remain unanswered in this regard.

Leader President Democratic Founders’ Group Suhail Khawar Mir and President Zulfiqar Ahsan Bhatti alleged that the SCCI had been hijacked by some monopolists for the last several years as the members were deprived of their very basic right to vote, adding that we have all evidences of fake voters.

They alleged that the SCCI management has turned all the offices in SCCI building into the election cell of the candidates belonging to the ruling Ittehad Founders Group, saying that SCCI was not a personal property of any person, but was of entire business community of Sialkot.

Suhail revealed they have written to Director General Trade Organization (DGTO) about the fake voters he ordered the SCCI General Secretary Tariq Malik for scrutiny, but fruitless, alleging that SCCI has been politicized by the incumbent cabinet.

They appealed to President of Pakistan and Prime Minster and concern authorities to take notice of the issue.
