Jewelers, traders observe strike against rising dacoity incidents

SIALKOT, September 12, 2011 (PPI): Hundreds of jewelers and traders observed a shatter down strike and staged demonstration in protest against the rising dacoity incidents occurred in congested Sarafa Market in Sialkot city.

Four unidentified armed dacoits had looted 60 Tolas of gold worth Rs. 4.5 million at gunpoint from the jewelry shop of a local jeweler Sarfraz Ahmed.

The protesting traders on Monday kept their Shops’ shutters down and also took out anti-police rally, which was began from Sarafa Market and ended at Allama Iqbal Chowk. They were carrying the aggitational banners and placards, chanting anti-police slogans, besides criticizing Naikapura-Sialkot police for remaining failed in providing security to the local jewelers and traders.

They gave a deadline of two days to the police to arrest the accused, otherwise they will keep the strike continue till fulfilling their demands, warning they would stage protest in front of the offices of Sialkot District Police Officer (DPO) from September 15,201.
