Central and South Asia can bring energy trade to a new level, says Pakistan official

Bishkek, September 19, 2011 (PPI): “Central and South Asia can bring energy trade to a new level,” Secretary Pakistan's Water and Power Ministry Imtiaz Hussain Kazi said Monday at the session of Intergovernmental Council on CASA-1000. According to him, Pakistan experiences lack of electric energy. “Mechanisms to compensate for this shortage are needed to be created.

We are exploring own sources. The country is big, population is growing therefore we need additional sources of electricity supply. This project will enable other countries too to create a stable market in the region,” explained Kazi. He added that the project will create new ways for cooperation and pave way for other projects. “We may bring energy trade to a new level, maintain production and export of natural gas and coal.”
