Wassan pledges to control terrorist activities

Karachi, September 19, 2011 (PPI): Terming the suicide attack on SSP CID Chaudhary Aslam’s residence on Monday morning as an act to disrupt peace of Karachi, Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Wassan has pledged to control terrorist activities as done in incidents relating target killings. He was talking to media at the site of blast on Monday.

At least eight persons including a woman and a child were killed and many others injured in a suicide bomb attack at the house of SSP CID in Defence area. All the martyred policemen were on guard duty at SSP CID’s residence. Many vehicles were also destroyed. The blast was so powerful that it left a six feet crater.

Wassan during his visit to a local hospital, where the injured were admitted, announced Rs. 2 million as per police rules for the heirs of martyred cops. He also announced that expenditure for the renovation of Chaudhary Aslam’s house, where the blast took place, will be borne by the government. The home minister hailed the patriotism of police force and said that so far during the current year no less than 64 policemen have laid down their lives in the line of duty.
