Nawaz Sharif for banning political parties having militant wings
Karachi, September 20, 2011 (PPI): PML-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif said on Tuesday that the political parties having any militant wing should be prohibited from contesting elections through Suo Moto notice by the Supreme Court or through amending the Constitution.
Talking to the industrialists of Karachi at a local hotel, Nawaz Sharif said: “Supreme Court should take Suo Moto notice of the political parties having militant wing and impose ban on them or such parties should act on their own and do politics after disbanding the militant wings.”
Talking about Karachi violence, he said:” This city belongs to all the nationalities as Sindhis, Pakhtuns, Punjabis and others dwell here and for that Karachi needs more attention.” To a question, Nawaz Sharif favoured delegating police powers to the Rangers.
