ENERGY NEEDS TO ACT AS MAIN DEVELOPING POWER

Jakarta, Sept 23 (ANATARA) - Professor of the University of Indonesia, Rinaldy Dalimi said Indonesia's abundant energy resources need to be exploited to the maximum for development purposes.
"Indonesia should change its energy paradigm from energy as a source of income, into a source of development," he said during a fit and proper test conducted by the National Energy Council at the House of Representatives here, Tuesday.
He said Indonesia should look for a replacement of the energy sector which has been the state's main source of income, such as the still inadequately exploited fishery sector.
Rinaldy is one of the 16 DEN member candidates undergoing the fit and proper test.
He said that under the law, energy is fully controlled by the state which means that the state controls energy.
"Whether the energy is importe or exported, the state makes the decision," he said.
