Seoul shares up 4.03 pct in late-morning trade
SEOUL (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks traded 4.03 percent higher late Tuesday morning, as foreign investors snapped up bargains in tech, shipbuilding and auto blue chips following their heavy losses in previous sessions, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) gained 66.68 points to 1,719.39 as of 11:20 a.m.
Stocks bounced back from their yearly lows with all sectors trading in positive territory.
Tech titan Samsung Electronics rose about 3.35 percent and chipmaking giant Hynix Semiconductor jumped more than 5 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,178.75 won to the greenback as of 11:20 a.m., up 1.43 won from Monday's close.
