Pres. Ahmadinejad: Iranian nation’s stands presented in world much bolder today

Tehran, Sept 26, IRNA – Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said here Monday night upon return from the 66th UN General Assembly Session, “Iranian nation’s stands are presented much bolder today in world and no negative stand is adopted against them.”

President Ahmadinejad who was taking part at a press conference at Tehran’s Mehrabad International Airport added that the objective of the Presidential Delegation’s this year’s visit of New York and presence at the UN was announcing the Islamic Republic of Iran, holding bilateral talks with heads of countries on regional and international developments, and participation in interviews with heads of the US media giants.

He reiterated, “The social meetings and dialogues were held with groups of think tanks and university folks, with influential personalities in US economy, and the interesting point was that everyone was disappointed with the status quo there and no one was pleased with the conduct of the US officials.”

Ahmadinejad added, “In the year 2005 during my visit of New York I objected to the status quo of the world order there, and there were three, or four world leaders who were pro drastic changes in the status quo, but today everyone is demanding serious changes in the status quo.”

He said, “Due to these kinds of demands and protests in Islamic lands and in North America where the people are severely opposed to the status quos, a great movement has already taken shape.”

President Ahmadinejad stressed, “Today the stand of Iran are presented in the world much bolder and negative stands are not adopted against our stands. A group was disappointed, and it was predictable, but those who were addressed did not find any faults in our stands.”

Elsewhere in his comments in the press conference, Ahmadinejad evaluated the world media’s encounters with the stands of the Islamic Republic as “positive”.

President Ahmadinejad who has during this trip visited Mauritania and Sudan as well and held talks with the presidents of those countries said focusing on the matter that Mauritania has very close ties with Iran, adding, “My visit was in response to the visit of President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz of Tehran.”

He said that Iran and Mauritania are cooperating in such fields as agriculture, industries, mines, and commerce.

On his visit of Sudan, too, the president reiterated, “Sudan is among the most important African countries and the people of Sudan and Iran have very close cultural ties.” He added, “The stands of the two countries at the international scenes, too, are quite close to each other and the two countries’ officials have consultations on regional developments.”

Ahmadinejad added, “In Sudan we reviewed the shared projects and programs which we are pursuing with them, and held talks with people of different walks of life, including the university students, the religious Ulema, the scientists, and the think tanks.”

The Supreme Leader’s Adviser in International Affairs Ali-Akbar Velayati, the First Vice-President Mohammad-Reza Rahimi, a group of cabinet ministers and administrative and armed force officials were present at the airport to welcome the president back home.

After leaving the airport, a group of Tehrani citizens welcomed the president chanting the slogan, “O brave Ahmadi, you are the follower of the Leader’s guidelines.”/end
