Nigeria calls for strong ties with Iran

New York, Sept 28, IRNA -- Nigerian Foreign Minister Olugbenga Ashiru told IRNA on Tuesday Abuja is eager to develop strong ties with Tehran.

Describing mutual relations as sincerely, he called for the expansion and strengthening of ties between both sides in all fields of interests.

“It is for the two nations and states of Islamic Republic of Iran and the Federal Republic of Nigeria to keep their relations more expanded and solid,” Ashiru added.

He said that his recent talks with Iranian officials have been fruitful and the negotiations led to find ways to bolster the relations.

'So, Nigeria is willing to make those ways operational as soon as possible.'

Ashiru added that Abuja always considered its ties with Tehran as vital and do the best to keep it friendly.

Ashiru termed Iran as the most important and strategic country in the Middle East, expressing his confidence that Tehran will go on with its leading role in the region.

He said, although some countries are struggling to undermine Iran’s position in the region, but I believe the struggles go in vain, because Iran has remarkable potentials to lead the region in the right track for the time being and in future.
