Iran: Certain World Actors Endangered by Rabbani's Effective Efforts

TEHRAN (FNA)- The constructive efforts made by martyr Burhanuddin Rabanni had endangered the interests of certain world actors, Iranian Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar said in a message to his Afghan counterpart.
In his message of condolence to the Afghan interior minister on the martyrdom of the former Afghan president Burhanuddin Rabbani, Najjar said, "The constructive and effective measures and efforts made by this honorable martyr to establish durable peace, stability and security in Afghanistan had definitely endangered the interests of those who seek their survival in insecurity, chaos and disorder and that's why they had embarked on such a cowardly action."
He further extended his condolences to the Afghan interior minister, government and nation on the assassination of Rabbani, and voiced sympathy for the bereaved family of the former Afghan president.
Rabbani, the head of Afghanistan's High Council of Peace, was killed when he was in a meeting with Taliban militants on Tuesday.
During the meeting, one of the Taliban militants detonated his explosives that were reportedly concealed in his turban.
Five senior Afghan officials, who were present in the gathering, were also killed in the explosion.
Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Afghan national security officials announced on Sunday night that they have arrested the mastermind behind Rabbani's assassination.
"The person, named Hamidollah, has been detained by Afghanistan's national security forces," Deputy Head of Afghanistan Government's Media Center Sefatollah Sahaf Safi told reporters on Sunday night.
