Iran-Pakistan FMs consider ways to develop ties

New York, Sept 28, IRNA – Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi in a meeting with his Pakistani counterpart Hina Rabbani Khar considered ways to develop and strengthen ties between the two states.

On the sidelines of the 66th annual meeting of the UN General Assembly, both foreign ministers discussed issues of mutual interest here on Tuesday.

Salehi and Rabbani, by reviewing the trend of development of bilateral Tehran-Islamabad ties, discussed ways to accelerate implementation of mutual agreements.

Both foreign ministers also considered the latest regional developments, including those in Afghanistan and exchanged viesw on holding trilateral meeting of Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

'By time, the importance of developing ties between Iran and Pakistan would be more clear and in this concern we should use opportunities to consolidate issues of interest,' salehi told his Pak counterpart.

Rabbani, for her part, also referred to friendly bilateral relations, underlining the importance of implementation of agreements, including those on pipeline, energy and refinery.

Referring to the common goals of both countries, Rabbani stressed Pakistan's interest in cooperation with Iran in international and regional issues./end
