Frequent power breakdowns causing serious problems

Naundero, September 28, 2011 (PPI): Frequent power breakdowns at Feeder-2 of home town of slain PPP leader Benazir Bhutto have complicated the problems of the citizens here.

People of the area have been divided into two groups as two feeders have been given in a population of about eighty thousand. Consumers of Feeder-1 are enjoying non-stop electricity supply whereas Feeder-2 consumers are getting step-motherly treatment.

Power outages on Feeder-2 in the morning from 7 to 9 am daily has added to the miseries of the people who are in a hurry to prepare for their offices and schools. Principles of girl and boys higher secondary schools have told this scribe that due to constant electricity failure the attendance of students has reduced up to 40% which has severely affected their studies.

SDO Naundero Sub-division Asghar Sangi, told PPI that work on single feeder has been started for consumers of the area which will be completed very soon and then, this complaint will die down but he failed to give exact date of completion. He said that Feeder-2 is also connected with many adjoining villages and is treated as one of the longest feeder and due to many tall trees on its course, it mostly remains under tripping faults for which there is no trained staff to remove the faults during night duty. He further confessed that unionism in WAPDA has further aggravated the problems.

Area residents have urged the government to provided relief at the earliest in this regard.
