PRESIDENT INSPECTS SENEN RAILWAY STATION

Jakarta, Sept 24 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono inspected Jakarta's Senen railway station on Wednesday to obtain firsthand information on the operation of a new economy-class train for the Jakarta-Malang route, named Matarmaja.
Accompanied among others by First Lady Ani Yudhoyono, Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo, and Jakarta Metropolitan Police chief Insp Gen Adang Firman, the head of state arrived at the station at 1 pm and sent off the Matarmaja train an hour later.
The train would on its way to Malang pass the cities of Cirebon, Semarang, Solo, Madiun, Kertosono, Kediri and Blitar.
In addition to operating new coaches as parts of the Matarmaja train service, the Transportation Ministry had also prepared other economy-class trains for Idul Fitri (Muslim post-fasting month festivity) holiday travelers.
Idul Fitri is still seven days away but holiday travelers have already begun to pack Kalideres and Pulogadung bus terminals, as well as Gambir and Senen railway stations.
