5th Int'l Confab on Palestinian Intifada kicks off in Tehran

Tehran, Oct 1, IRNA – The 5th International Conference on Palestinian Intifada opened in Tehran Saturday morning in the presence of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

Parliamentary delegations including several speakers, leading political figures and scholars from 50 Islamic and non-Islamic countries as well as leaders of several Palestinian groups are taking part in the two-day event which is focusing on the motto of “Palestine, a land only for Palestinians”.

The motto adopted by the gathering is a reflection of the fact that Palestinians “are not” in search of a land because they already have their own one.

The conference aims at mobilizing all official and non-official capacities in the Islamic world as well as other freedom-loving world countries to support intifada and back the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people in removing occupation of their homeland, return of homeless Palestinians to their motherland and the right of the Palestinians to determine their own destiny.

Iranian parliament speaker Ali Larijani officially opened the conference with his welcome remarks while the Supreme Leader is to address the participating delegations and guests shortly.

From among the list of dignitaries taking part in the event such names as Nabih Berri, Usama al-Nujeify, and Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi Parliament Speakers from Lebanon, Iraq and Afghanistan, respectively, as well as Speaker of Qatar's Advisory Council Mohamed bin Mubarak al-Kholeifi could be cited.

Also, Indonesian parliament speaker, former Tanzanian president, former Iraqi premier Ebrahim Ja'fari as well as delegations from Zimbabwe, Malawi, Bangladesh, Oman, Algeria, Bolivia, Kyrgyzstan, Poland, Denmark, Canada and Pakistan are also in Tehran to attend the conference./end
