Tunisians Stage Protest against Animated Film about Iran

TEHRAN (FNA)- Riot police clashed with large numbers of protesters on Sunday in the Tunisian capital after the country's television broadcast an animated movie that is critical of the Iranian revolution.
There were no deaths reported, but the clashes were the worst seen in the capital, Tunis, in months according to Euronews. Hundreds of police officers in riot gear faced off against several hundred Islamists.

The video below, posted by the Tunisian radio station Express FM, shows security forces as they fire tear gas at protesters in a dusty area of the capital.

The protests were touched off by two separate events: a ban on women who wear the niqab - a type of veil that leaves only slits for the eyes - from enrolling in the country's universities; and a broadcast, on Friday night, of "Persepolis," an animated film based on the graphic memoir by Marjane Satrapi about her coming of age in revolutionary Iran.
