SBS has provocative summer/autumn line-up

SYDNEY (AAP) - Oct 12 - SBS has a diverse range of local television shows planned for summer and autumn, from a documentary series on the Vietnamese community in Australia to a retro action comedy about five international super spies out to kill Hitler.
In Sydney on Wednesday, the multicultural broadcaster launched its TV programs for summer and autumn 2011-12.
SBS managing director Michael Ebeid said the summer/autumn line-up once again showed the broadcaster's commitment to provocative and different television.
"SBS pushes the boundaries of television content and actively invests time and resources into developing bold and original programming that other broadcasters shy away from and our summer/autumn line-up continues that tradition," Mr Ebeid said.
Once Upon A Time in Cabramatta tells of how the Vietnamese community found their place in multicultural Australia, including interviews with migrants and their families. The three part series is due to screen in January.
The kitsch, retro action comedy series Danger 5 is sure to gain a cult following. The series follows five international, super skilled, super good-looking spies on a mission to kill Hitler and is expected to screen in February.
SBS will also produce a talent quest with a twist with the four-part series Bollywood Star to be screened next year.
Auditions for the series, in which the winner will be awarded a role in a Bollywood movie, will be held in Sydney this month.
Also slated for 2012 is the second serving of the highly successful reality series Go Back to Where You Came From.
The first series of the controversial program made headlines around the world when it aired in June and was the highest-ranking show for SBS in 2011.
It took six people on the journey of asylum seekers coming to Australia, in reverse.
Other shows announced at the launch were food programs Luke Nguyen's Greater Mekong and Peter Kuruvita's My Sri Lanka, as well as a fourth series of the local version of Who Do You Think You Are?.
Celebrities to appear on the family history series include actors Vince Colosimo, John Wood and Melissa George, comedian Shaun Micallef, AFL player Michael O'Loughlin and journalist Kerry O'Brien.
