Iran to Fight UAE in Final Match of West Asian Women's Football

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran will fight with the UAE in the final match of the 2011 WAFF Women's Championship after Iranians defeated two-time champions Jordan 3-2 and the tournament hosts triumphed 4-0 over Bahrain in Monday's semi-finals.
Maryam Rahimi's second-half hat-trick was enough to edge out Jordan, who lost 1-0 to the UAE to finish runners-up at the last edition of the competition after winning the first two WAFF Women's Championship titles.

Shahnaz Jebreen put Jordan 1-0 up with just three minutes gone only but Iran's Rahimi scored in the 56th, 72nd and 82nd minutes to put Iran firmly in control.

Ayah Al Majali gave the Jordanians a glimmer of hope four minutes from time but Iran held out for the win, which was marred slightly by the sending off of Zaineh Al Sadi three minutes into stoppage-time.

Bahrain booked their place in the final four in emphatic fashion, scoring 22 times in three games to top Group A, but could find a way past a resilient UAE defence, who took the lead 14 minutes into the match at the Sultan bin Zayed Stadium through Jamila Marek.

Oufae Nacha doubled the home side's advantage four minutes into the second half and after Dalila Zerrouki had made it 3-0 in the 64th minute, Imen Trodi sealed the win 15 minutes from full time.

The win set up a meeting between Iran and the US in Wednesday's final.
