Iran Trash Bahrain 6-0 in World Cup Qualifier

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran taught a helpless Bahrain a memorable lesson in front of 85,000 spectators in Tehran's Azadi stadium, defeating the Persian Gulf islanders 6-0 in World Cup qualification on Tuesday evening.
A crowd of 85,000 fans in the Azadi Stadium saw Bahrain reduced to 10 men in the opening minute of the match when Rashid Al-Hooti was sent off for a dangerous tackle on Teymourian.

Iran's first goal came in the 21st minute, when Teymourian's long throw was only partially saved by the Bahraini keeper, leaving Hosseini with an easy finish from close range.

Bahrain's 10 men never stood a chance against Iran. The Iranian squad was in full control of the game, and the second goal came in the 33rd minute when Jabbari scored from inside the penalty area after Meydavoudi's initial shot was blocked.

Iran's third came in the 41st minute when Aghili jumped high and headed in a corner by Teymourian. The two teams went in to the half time break with Iran leading 3-0.

Iran was in total control of the game in the second half, and the pressure paid off in 61st minute when Teymourian produced a magnificent shot from 30 yards to make it 4-0 for Iran.

Iran's 5th goal came in the 75th minute when Ansarifard who was brought in for Jabbari got on the score sheet with a side footed finish from another Teymourian corner.

A wonderful night of football for the home fans was completed when Rezaei who was brought in for Ghazi got to the end of a cross from Heydari, and scored with another header.

The game finished 6-0 for Iran who go top of the group with 7 points from 3 games, ahead of Qatar who are second with 5 points. Bahrain are third with 4 points while Indonesians have gained no point so far.
