Iranian deputy CBI governor arrested

TEHRAN, Nov.9 (MNA) – The deputy governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) , Hamid Pourmohammadi, has recently been arrested in connection with the fraud scheme. CBI Governor Mahmoud Bahmani on Tuesday expressed regret over Pourmohammadi’s arrest, saying, “It is not fair that the central bank has come under fire. The central bank is not concerned about (possible) sanctions, but it is worried about criticisms at home. If they put pressure on the central bank, the entire system will face problems.” “The issue is being investigated by the Judiciary. Our country’s banking system has the most scrupulous employees,” he added. Bahmani also said that no one should provide the enemies with pretexts to create a commotion about the country, adding, “International restrictions have been imposed on Iran, and this point should be taken into consideration.”
