Iranian Majlis speaker says West cannot obstruct Iran’s nuclear progress

TEHRAN, Nov. 21 (MNA) – Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said that the stumbling blocks that the West has been creating for Iran will not hinder the Islamic Republic’s nuclear progress.
Larijani made the remarks during an open session of the Majlis on Sunday in reference to the resolution that the International Atomic Energy Agency Board of Governors adopted on November 18, which criticizes Iran for its nuclear activities.
He said that such obstructive and ineffective actions taken by the United States and certain other Western countries “will not prevent the Iranian nation from pursuing nuclear technology and the redemptive causes of the revolution (manifested in) the Islamic awakening in the region.”
The fact that certain countries are in a quandary regarding Iran’s nuclear activities and are blowing the relevant issues out of proportion show their evil intentions, he stated.
“However, the U.S. and the West should be aware that such conspiracies will not help them resolve their problem of lagging behind regional developments, and, besides, these moves cannot put a lid on their internal crises, particularly the crisis of legitimacy of the U.S., after the Wall Street movement,” Larijani added.
“Regional nations will give a response to you… through deposing subservient dictators in the region,” he said, addressing the West.
He also stated, “The West should be sure that the regional revolutions have found their way… and their anger cannot save U.S.-backed dictators based in the region just as the brave nations of Bahrain, Egypt, and Yemen are vigorously pursuing their legitimate rights.”
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Iranian Majlis speaker commented on the situation in Syria and said that those countries which are furnishing the Syrian opposition with weapons and are exacerbating the situation in the country but have turned a blind eye to the killings of protesters in Yemen and Bahrain will lose their reputations.
