RI TO WIN BACK THAILAND'S TRUST AND COMMITMENT: OBSERVER
Jakarta, Sept 28 (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government hoped to win back the Thailand government's trust and commitment in facilitating intention.
"It all has to be started with another private discussion, so we have to start all over again to win back Thailand's trust and commitment," International Relations observer from University of Indonesia (UI) Hariyadi Wiryawan said here Sunday.
Wiryawan also said the negative statement from the Thai government over the negotiations in Bogor Palace last week weakened the integrity of the discussions.
"It is a pity that Indonesia's good intention become useless while it is only a few steps ahead to solving the problem. So, it is better to start the diplomatic process all over again to restore the Thai governmen's trust," he added.
However, continued Hariyadi, before beginning starting with the negotiations with the Thai government, Indonesia must first solve the internal conflict and tension.
"If in Indonesia people are still blamming each other, Indonesia will be considered unsuitable to facilitate the negotiations," said Haryadi.
"It is very bad because the Thai government is ready to have a discussion with south Thailand. So, a clarification is all they need," he explained, adding that now is the time to create peace in Southern Thailand by making a soft power approach.
